    Biography

    HFMC

The idea of forming a new band started sometime in 2008 (says Hasse).

"I had a handful of new songs, and more were coming regularly" (he recalls).

The idea started to take shape and in 2009 Hasse Fröberg & Musical Companion started to play and prepare for what later became their debut album "FuturePast" (2010).

After shows in both Sweden and abroad, the band entered the studio to record Powerplay, released in 2012. The album was followed by shows and festivals in both Europe and USA. 2015 saw the release of the self-titled album HFMC, which resulted in more extensive touring. When the band finally returned to Uppsala, Sweden they filmed and recorded the show for the Live DVD/Album No Place like Home released in 2017.

In 2019, HFMC announced the release of brand new music in form of the ambitious opus Parallel Life, including the 22-minute title track.

The band embarked on tour initially performing on Prog at Sea (a festival at sea between Oslo and Frederikshavn) and carried on playing until the pandemic put a stop to it all.

This brings us up to date and the new album We Are The Truth (2021).

Along with a new bass player and a strong and solid set of songs, the band once again plan to get back on the road in 2022.

Tell us of your experience when recording We Are The Truth?
It was by far the most convenient recording I've experienced, probably one of the funniest too. I don't think we've ever been so well prepared before, apart from our debut album FuturePast (maybe). When you play with such a confidence as we did when we recorded the backing tracks for We Are The Truth, it kind of invites you to try different arrangements or even change parts completely. Both things happened a couple of times during the sessions with great results. For crying out loud, we even made a completely different version of the song Every Second Counts and guess which version we ended up using for the album? The alternative version of course.

What are your thoughts on the result, what do you think of We Are The Truth?
I mean normally I'm not this confident about our products. I like the album so much myself so I'm not that worried about the reviews actually. When I'm writing this I've only seen one and that one was positive. Previously before our earlier albums, I was always very nervous around this time before the releases. Now before We Are The Truth there are just some small and tiny butterlies in there (flying around in my stomach). It's like I "don't care this time", am I cocky or not hehehe...? This feel so very much "not me" saying this but it's the truth.

Tell us of your experience when recording We Are The Truth?
I had a very joyful time recording the album, the feeling was extremely relaxed and comfortable and the studio itself had a very pleasant and peaceful environment.

We realized we had something really unique going on even during the writing process and when we started to rehearse the songs felt really powerful. Therefore the recording went smoothly, and we all had a great time together.

This time around with new member and bass player Sampo Axelsson whom I have worked with before. I think we managed to record some good and solid rhythm sections for the album.

And working yet again with co-producer and studio-technician Petrus Königsson was also a treat, he made me feel relaxed and we worked hours looking for the right sound and drums for each song. I am sure we will return to Nevo Studios again.

What are your thoughts on the result, what do you think of We Are The Truth?
Part of the result lies on everybody participating, including the band, Petrus and our manager JT who got this thing together. Listening to the final mix of the album made me feel that we´ve managed to make our best album yet. I am very proud of my drumming and the other guys are also performing at their best of their instrument. I believe we have grown as individual musicians and you can hear that on the recording.

The songs are strong, my contribution to this album is more music than ever before, me and Hasse co-wrote Other Eyes and he wrote the lyrics for my song The constant search for bravery. I also wrote A spiritual change, words, and music. Looking forward to playing this live to an audience in the near future.

    Anton Lindsjö

Tell us of your experience when recording We Are The Truth?
This time around we had the luxury of staying at Nevo studios for a couple of days, really getting comfortable, feeling relaxed and at home. We recorded the whole thing as a live band and hearing the sound of the band through the headphones was like hearing a finished record. I'm not someone who knows much about studios and studio gear but for me that was outstanding. A great pleasure to record at such circumstances. It was a great few days and we even had time for some whisky tasting. :)

Back at home I were to rerecord the rhythm guitars and solos. But being in the middle of parental care of my son, getting the time for this was harder than I expected. In the end I manage to get the recording done in time but it was a close call. It's always hard to record your own parts by yourself not really knowing what the other instruments are gonna sound like. So it was at the last minute I had to rework some stuff to make it fit better with the overall sound. And thanks to the amazing engineer Petrus Königsson, it all worked out great and I'm really happy with the finished record.

What are your thoughts on the result, what do you think of We Are The Truth?
For me it's probably the record I've listened to the most post finishing the record. And I guess that is as good a sign there is of a record you're happy with. Most of the time when you have been working on something, it's hard to listen to it right afterwards since you're so close to it and have often struggled a bit with it. You sort of only see the mistakes instead of the overall picture. This time, for some reason, I have been enjoying listening to the whole record from start to finish. I think Petrus has a signature warm and organic sound that I really love and I think he outdid himself on this one. To me there is a colorful, good vibe to the record and I hope others will appreciate that as well.

    Sampo Axelsson

Tell us of your experience when recording We Are The Truth?
It was pure joy! Four very creative days at Nevo studios. This was also a great opurtunity for me, as the new member in the band, to hang out with the lads. And the single malt wasn’t bad either… 😁

What are your thoughts on the result, what do you think of We Are The Truth?
I’m very proud to be a part of this work. I think ’We Are The Truth’ is a solid album with great songs, production and musicianship.

    Kjell Haraldsson

Tell us of your experience when recording We Are The Truth?
As usual, it was a joy to work with these gentlemen.  Serious and focused but always with lots of hysterical laughs.  It is a great honor to have the super talented multi-musician Sampo on board. His contributions are invaluable. For me personally, it was the first time in several months I hung out with other homo sapiens after being quarantined due to Covid-19.  At first I was terrified but that single malt session calmed me down a lot.  I just want to apologize to everyone involved if I became too close and persistent.

What are your thoughts on the result, what do you think of We Are The Truth?
The compositions and lyrics are great. The songs are well played and the sound is warm and nice thanks to Petrus the Wiz. What could go wrong? This is this year's Christmas present from perhaps the oldest but most handsome boy band in the world.
